The Rougher Tool creates a sandpaper like finish on your iron face. The Rougher Tool will not damage your grooves or cause them to get dull. There is no USGA rule yet on having a gritty iron surface. Most all iron makers are now going to this method of creating grip on the face because of the new groove rules.
